Very clear and sharp, with vivid colors, this is a nice looking DVD.    Disappointing, however, is the sound -- although clear, it is not even true Pro-Logic, utilizing only the front three channels, with the center channel doing nearly all of the reproduction -- a shame considering some of the great songs in this movie.   Several extras help this movie to earn an average score despite poor sound and average menus.

A drug-induced frenzy, man -- what more can I say?  It's sick, it's twisted, it's beyond compare.  Two friends set off on a cross-country journey to Las Vegas -- swallowing, injecting, inhaling and smoking every kind of illegal substance they can get their hands on.  Johnny Depp does a fine job presenting the main character, Raoul Duke, a quirky, paranoid and constantly stoned man.

The narration is interesting and well done, but the lack of much true-dialogue lowers the script score for this film.

Probably the most similar movie would be the Naked Lunch, though the Naked Lunch seems a bit more inspired and less focused on the drugs themselves.  I'm not so sure there is any real point to Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas -- it has some humorous parts, overshadowed by mostly disturbing events and imagery.
